Structural engineering services Wandsworth project consisted of a three-stage project regarding four adjacent three-storey mixed-use building (including basement). The properties have had previous several structurally alterations in the past, including two-story rear extensions and the merging of two of the adjoining ground floors into one. Being a mixed-use building, the ground floors were used commercially as shop fronts and a restaurant, while the upper floors were for residential use.
The first stage proposal required a structural scheme for internal alterations taking place on the ground floor and basement level.
The properties date back to the 1900’s and the previous structure alterations included timber floor joists, concrete suspended first floor slab, beam and block flooring, steelwork and masonry walls. This resulted in variations in head-heights across the ground and first floor. Therefore, the main problem was determining the loading paths, appropriate loading data and the retrospective calculations.
We incorporated a structural scheme that took into account any future stages of project, like the single-storey main and pod loft extension. In additional we utilized a variety of construction materials in our structural scheme and provided amendments and revisions, overcoming the issues that arose during the project. Throughout the project we worked closely with the client, architect and builders over the next couple of months, arranging regular site visit, to provide our solutions in safe, efficient and quick manner.
The structural engineering services Wandsworth project was completed in a timely manner and the project has now been completed.
